Brad Johnson - Cold Days At The Courthouse

Yellow Peril Records are very proud to present 'Cold Days At The Courthouse', a collection of songs recorded by singer/songwriter Brad Johnson. These songs were recorded between 2000 & 2009 & were mostly inspired by the comings and goings around his then hometown, Sittingbourne in Kent.
Cold Days.. cover a number of different periods from Brad's early writings (Insecure & Life In The Looking Glass) to the newer songs (Something Beautiful & Demands).
Brad has been sitting on these recordings for quite some time & many of the tunes I have enjoyed for a number of years so it really is a privilege to be putting them out through this website.
Brad Johnson hopes to start recording a new record in the very near future & thanks anybody who takes the time to listen to this collection of songs.

Karl Mahoney - Trouble In Springville Canyon
So I am back already to tell you about my second album 'Trouble In Springville Canyon'. This album came about purely by chance. One weekend I was bored & came up with a little tale of a boy being sexually abused by his uncle in America. Your usual, stereotypical portrayal of anyone from Texas basically.
I got the idea in my head of making a concept record whilst listening back to the track so one afternoon started writing a little story. Three hours later I had wrote a short but complete story & recorded six more tracks to accompany these pieces.
My inspiration for this record has come from various films & records, the main three however would be:
  • Lee Hazlewood's 'Trouble is a Lonesome Town' would be the main inspiration. Basically this LP follows the same formula as my record by having a story being told throughout, followed by a track which mirrors the narration that we have just been given.
  • The Spaghetti Western. I'm a huge fan of the Italian westerns from back in the day, the likes of the Dollars trilogy staring Clint Eastwood, Django & Once Apon A Time In America with Charles Bronson rank as some of my favourite films ever.
  • The Nick Cave song 'God Is In The House', the whole concept of that song has been used on the early parts of this story.
All songs written by me except Bang Bang (Mad Dog Norton Shot Me Down) which is a re-write of Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) written by Sunny Bono & made famous by Cher & Nancy Sinatra.
Artwork is by JamesDCody once again & spellchecked by Dan Franklin. Helen (The Swede) performs Harmonica on the track 'Blueberry Pie'.

Tracklist:
01: Chapter One
02: Springville Canyon
03: Chapter Two
04: Sheriff Slipper
05. Chapter Three
06. Mad Dog Norton
07 Chapter Four
08. Blueberry Pie
09: Chapter Five
10: Keep Off My Land
11: Chapter Six
12: Bang Bang (Mad Dog Norton Shot Me Down)
13: Chapter Seven
14. Goodbye To Springville Canyon

Creatively I am completely out of steam now so I will not be nagging at anyone to download any new music for a long while yet but look out from future releases from Brad Johnson, Tucker & a special guest who's name I cannot reveal as of yet.

Postal Squad - Royal Mail Rocks!

Yellow Peril Records proudly presents... Royal Mail Rocks!, the debut by Postal Squad. Postal Squad is a one man dance project created by JamesDCody using Garage Band & samples of various people from the work place. These two ingredients come together to create a unique sound that will have not only have you dancing & rocking out but also wondering what goes on behind the scenes at Royal Mail. Royal Mail Rocks is dance music, but dance music like you've never heard, a style of dance music that shows the dark side within us all, a personal look inside the twisted & demented mind of JamesDCody.
What do the songs mean? Well, you'll have to work that out for yourself when you hear the distinct sound of... POSTAL SQUAD, You may well of heard of The Postal Service, but you'll never want to hear them again once you hear the perversion that is POSTAL SQUAD

tracklist:

Yellow Peril Records Presents...

Hello everybody, this is the first release on Yellow Peril Records, a record label created to give out Art & Rock & Roll for absolutely free. The record label has been named after King John's car (which can be seen above) & in the near future look out for titles from Postal Squad & a CD of spoken words by the much hyped poet Sam Norton.

'Learning The Trade' is my debut album. It's mostly acoustic & very lo-fi sounding as I recorded the entire album using the voice recorder on my Iphone.
As the opening track will tell you, I do not take myself very seriously & I'm just having a bit of fun by doing this. I appreciate anybody who takes the time to listen to the record & hope you enjoy it.. Despite having 17 tracks it clocks in at around 35 minutes so isn't too lengthy. The artist JamesDcody (Of Postal Squad) designed the artwork & there are guest vocals from the porn Star Lacie Heart on 'The Ballad Of Lacie Heart' & also the Welling United away fans lending vocals on 'He Ain't Heavy (From The White Cliffs Of Dover'.
