Karl Mahoney - Trouble In Springville Canyon
So I am back already to tell you about my second album 'Trouble In Springville Canyon'. This album came about purely by chance. One weekend I was bored & came up with a little tale of a boy being sexually abused by his uncle in America. Your usual, stereotypical portrayal of anyone from Texas basically.
I got the idea in my head of making a concept record whilst listening back to the track so one afternoon started writing a little story. Three hours later I had wrote a short but complete story & recorded six more tracks to accompany these pieces.
My inspiration for this record has come from various films & records, the main three however would be:
- Lee Hazlewood's 'Trouble is a Lonesome Town' would be the main inspiration. Basically this LP follows the same formula as my record by having a story being told throughout, followed by a track which mirrors the narration that we have just been given.
- The Spaghetti Western. I'm a huge fan of the Italian westerns from back in the day, the likes of the Dollars trilogy staring Clint Eastwood, Django & Once Apon A Time In America with Charles Bronson rank as some of my favourite films ever.
- The Nick Cave song 'God Is In The House', the whole concept of that song has been used on the early parts of this story.
All songs written by me except Bang Bang (Mad Dog Norton Shot Me Down) which is a re-write of Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) written by Sunny Bono & made famous by Cher & Nancy Sinatra.
Artwork is by JamesDCody once again & spellchecked by Dan Franklin. Helen (The Swede) performs Harmonica on the track 'Blueberry Pie'.

Creatively I am completely out of steam now so I will not be nagging at anyone to download any new music for a long while yet but look out from future releases from Brad Johnson, Tucker & a special guest who's name I cannot reveal as of yet.
